January General Membership Meeting
660 White Plains Rd
Eastchester, NY 10709
Join us for our first BRI General Membership Meeting of 2025!
OUR TOPIC WILL BE “BUILDING THE WORKFORCE OF TOMORROW”
We’ll begin with informal networking and discussion at 5:00 PM.
The main program will begin at 6:00 PM.
We’ve seen a boom in construction in Westchester County and some of the first signs that we’re beginning to close a housing shortage that was decades in the making. Our ability to sustain that effort as a region will rely on a skilled construction workforce, including not just new construction but being able to maintain and repair existing buildings.
However, according to a recent study by economists at the University of Utah and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the U.S. construction workforce decreased by 30% during the Great Recession of 2008. It has slowly recovered, but today more than 1 in 5 construction workers are 55 and older and nearing retirement age. How do we build the workforce of tomorrow?
You’ll hear from an expert panel on programs right here in Westchester County to make sure we’re recruiting and training the workers we need to keep Westchester building.
