BRI November General Membership Meeting — NY Assemblyman David Buchwald

Event Details

  • Date/Time: Thursday, November 12th, 2020 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Assemblyman David Buchwald has represented the 93rd Assembly District, including Bedford, Harrison, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, New Castle, North Castle, North Salem, Pound Ridge and the City of White Plains, since 2013. Since he ran in the primary to succeed Rep. Nita Lowey this year instead of running for re-election, he will not return to Albany in January.

He’ll join us for the November General Membership meeting to talk through how the legislature and Westchester County have changed in the years he’s been in office, his thoughts on the future opportunities and challenges related to housing, development, and affordability in Westchester, and how all of this may be shaped by the results of the 2020 Elections.

In addition to his years of service in the New York State Assembly, Assemblyman Buchwald was Co-Chairman of United Westchester, a group of local, county, state and federal elected officials who came together after the 2018 extended power outages. Together with Assemblywoman Amy Paulin, Buchwald is a driving force behind the Coalition for the Charitable Contribution Deduction (3CD), which consists of Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties, 17 municipalities, 17 school districts, and eight state and countywide professional and advocacy organizations advocating against the IRS regulations that limit the ability of local governments to use tax credits and charitable funds to adjust to the losses of the cap on the federal State and Local Tax (SALT) Deduction. Prior to being elected to the legislature, Assemblyman Buchwald has been elected to the White Plains Common Council, and had served as Chairman of the Metro-North Railroad Commuter Council. He practiced tax law in New York for six years as an associate of the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

We’ll begin with informal networking and discussion at 5:30 PM.

The main program will begin at 6:00 PM.
